Custom-Built Comeback: Rebuilt Pines #1 Hydraulic Tube Bender

Precision Rebuilt, Purpose-Built Extras

This Pines #1 Hydraulic Tube Bender came to us for a complete rebuild, and the customer wanted more than a stock refresh — they needed a Tiger Stop assembly added for long-material positioning and an under-nose split die actuator built in to support their part mix. We combined our standard full-rebuild process with those two custom additions.

The rebuild included a new COMPTROL digital controller, all-new swing arm and stationary arm components, new hydraulic cylinders and Vickers valving, a full electrical refresh, and two customer-requested additions: an 18′ Tiger Stop rail assembly (~16′ of travel) and an under-nose split die actuator (toggle style). The machine was cleaned, sanded, and painted in the shop’s standard colors — Miller Welder Blue & Safety Yellow — unless otherwise specified.

Custom Additions: Tiger Stop & Split Die Actuator

This rebuild went beyond the standard scope to add two customer-requested features:
Tiger Stop assembly — 18′ rail with approximately 16′ of travel, for precise long-material positioning
Under-nose split die actuator assembly (toggle style)

New Comptrol Digital Controller

Bender is upgraded with a COMPTROL digital controller. The controller is by Sierra Controllers. The controller uses a quick-disconnect to the main electrical box — wired with an orange, non-metallic anaconda conduit rather than gray metallic, so a forklift or foot traffic won’t crush it and damage the internal wiring.

“The greatest improvement on this machine is the linear rail and pressure die holder with the outboard support because I can move it in and out with one hand.”
