Clarke & Lewis UTB CL-DF-1 Flaring Machine (Double/Single Flare)

The Clarke & Lewis CL-DF-1, item number UTB CL-DF-1, is a hydraulic flaring machine for tube end forming. It produces double-thickness flares, single flares and upset beads, using hydraulic pressure for uniform, repeatable results from part to part.

How it works. The operator loads the tube and tooling, then cycles the machine with an automatic foot switch, which keeps both hands free to hold the part. A single control lever runs the machine, and a velocity damper controls the forming stroke. A 5 hp hydraulic drive powers it from 230 or 460 VAC, single-phase or three-phase, so it fits most shop power. The cabinet stand houses the machine at working height.

Why double flares. A double flare folds the tube end back on itself, doubling the wall thickness at the sealing face. The flare is stronger, resists cracking under vibration and over-tightening, and seals more reliably than a single flare in thin-wall tube. It’s great for:
